How To Access Amritsar


Access
AIR : Amritsar’s Raja Sansi Airport 12 km northwest of the city and has regular flights to Delhi, Chandigarh and Lucknow.

International Airlines serving direct flights to Amritsar
Ariana Afghan Airlines: Connects Amritsar and Delhi with Kabul
Uzbekistan Airways: Connects Delhi and Amritsar with Tashkent
Turkmenistan Airlines: Flies from Ashgabat to Amritsar and Delhi
Flyjet: Offers charter flights between London Gatwick/Birminghman and Amritsar.
Monarch Airlines: Offers charter service (winter seasona) between East Midlands Airport and Amritsar. Winter flights to Goa and Thirvananthapuram are also available from London/Gatwick and Manchester.

RAIL : The station is situated in the northern part of the city. There are direct train connections to Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai. Computerised railway reservation facilities are also available at the Golden Temple Complex. Important Train from Delhi is Amritsar Shatabdi Express (takes 5½ hr), from Kolkata is Amritsar-Howrah Express (takes 44 hr), from Mumbai is Dadar-Amritsar Express (takes 18 hr).

ROAD : Both state and private bus services link the city to Punjab, Himachal and UP. Coaches are also available to Delhi, Chandigarh, Dharamsala, Kullu and Dehra Dun. The bus journey from Delhi to Amritsar can be pretty tedious and uncomfortable. Opt for the train journey, especially in the summer months. The inter-state bus terminal is situated just 2 km away from the railway station.
