RAIL : The station is situated in the northern part of the city.
There are direct train connections to Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai.
Computerised railway reservation facilities are also available at the Golden
Temple Complex. Important Train from Delhi is Amritsar Shatabdi Express
(takes 5½ hr), from Kolkata is Amritsar-Howrah Express (takes 44 hr),
from Mumbai is Dadar-Amritsar Express (takes 18 hr).
ROAD : Both state and private bus services link the city to Punjab,
Himachal and UP. Coaches are also available to Delhi, Chandigarh,
Dharamsala, Kullu and Dehra Dun. The bus journey from Delhi to Amritsar can
be pretty tedious and uncomfortable. Opt for the train journey, especially
in the summer months. The inter-state bus terminal is situated just 2 km
away from the railway station.
