How To Access Guwahati

Access
AIR : The airport at Borjhar, rechristened Gopinath Bordoloi Airport, is a quick 25 km from the city centre. Regular flights ply between major important cities (Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Bangalore) and neighboring ones like Jorhat, Dibrugarh, Tezpur, North Lakhimpur and Silchar. A taxi will charge you about Rs 300, while if you go for shared-taxis, do not pay more than Rs 100 per head. Air India operates direct flight between Guwahati and Bangkok on Mondays and Thursdays.

RAIL : Guwahati’s bustling Paltan Bazaar Railway Station is an important terminus on the North-East Frontier Railway. To and from Delhi, are quite a handful of trains like the Rajdhani, North-East Express, Brahmaputra Express, Sampark Kranti, Avadh Assam and so on. Needless to say, go for Rajdhani if at all you are traveling by train. Apart from Kolkata, New Jalpaiguri in northern Bengal is the most convenient railhead to access Guwahati. .

ROAD : Guwahati is the main base for trips to almost all North-Eastern cities. Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) Bus stand is adjacent to the Railway Station and has buses to and from the neighbouring towns of Shillong, Silchar, Tezpur, Dibrugarh, Imphal and Agartala. The roads are not really your Switzerland-highways, but with classic natural contours, any journey gets you stopping over many a time en route to discover or film the natural beauty, or simply cleanse your lung with the bracing air.
