Why stay at Chokhi Dhani..
Location :
At Jaipur Tank Highway, some 5 km from the Sanganer Airport, 18 km from
Jaipur Railway Station and 18 km from Sindhi Camp Bus Stand, Chokhi Dhaani
sprawls across 10 acres of real estate.
Chokhi Dhani Hotel Specialities:
Conceptualized in 1989, Chokhi Dhaani or "Fine Hamlet", is
India's only five star ethnic village, meant to give the tourists a complete
look and feel of the Rajasthani heritage, and "to provide entertainment
while simultaneously attempt a renaissance of local crafts and culture",
as the Managing Director puts it. For the fine platform it provides to the
local craftsmen and folk artists and financial help, and of course its
contribution to Indian Tourism, Chokhi Dhani not just remains in news all
the time, but has bagged many awards. Not worth giving second thoughts! Read
and book!
Mud-huts to stay at Chokhi Dhani:
The traditional (tikka-thaali arti) welcome, amidst the pounding drums and
a confetti of scented rosepetals, prepares you for what follows. An entire
village with some 65 mud and thatched designer cottages and eight Haveli
(mansions) Suits, all rustic and yet with all modern amenities, best termed
'quaint meets cosmo'!
See and Do's at Hotel Chokhi Dhani:
You can call it Rajasthan-in-a-capsule. You have camels and horses, bullock
carts and carriages all about the place doing their rounds with enthusiastic
tourists craning their necks. Puppet shows, snake charmers, magicians, folk
dance performances make classic pastimes. An ethnic shopping arcade
(Sargahsulli) that has crafts from the different States, a Ganesh Temple, a
swimming pool (called Kund) - form some of its other attractions.
Feasts & Wines at Chokhi Dhani: Chokhi Dhani's royal tables are
legendary. Traditionally dressed turbaned men lay some 50-odd dishes before
you at the multi-cuisine restaurant Bindola. The sprawling lawns nearby can
comfortably host a reception for as many as 2000 persons, in village
ambiance. Sangri specializes in Rajasthani cuisine like gatte ki subzi,
kadhi and mirchi ka salan, that is served with white-butter-topped
bajra/jowar rotis fresh from cavernous tandoors. Desserts include rabri (a
delectable confection of thickened, syrupy milk) and pistachio-studded kesar
halwa. Don't bother to mug up these names, just gorge at everything - they
are produced by the finest chefs and are very hygienic. The well-stocked,
mirror gilded bar, Chandi Mahal, recreates the magic of Maharajahs.
Corporate talk : Mandani and Sajjan Goth, are the two conference
halls board meetings and conferences. The ethnicity about the place is
spellbinding!
