Ladakh festival, organized annually in the month of September is a 15 day
event. It presents the kaleidoscope of the Ladakhi culture, outlined with
blend of Central Asian, Tibetan and North Indian style of living. As the
name suggest, the festival is one of the major events in Jammu and Kashmir
and covers an array of programmes, that describes the pristine natural
beauty and spiritual feel encircling the state.

Ladakh festival limelights mock marriage ceremonies, that depicts the
strong Buddhist customs and traditions. During the occasion, a number of
Buddhist monasteries are decorated and enlisted. Such rituals are organized
to commemorate the starting of Mahayana Buddhism in Tibet.
Ladakh Festival Attraction and Celebration
Also, known as harvest festival, the celebration is holds significance in
the life and living of village folk and as well the government. It is
organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department in joined
collaboration with the district government administrations and local
communities. It provides the million dollar scenes of cultural procession,
traditional ceremonies, folk dances and singing programmes. Both men and
women dress themselves in traditional attires and participate the ceaseless

Musical concert and folk ceremonies promote the age-old culture and
heritage of the place. Lamas(Buddhist monks) engage themselves in
traditional dances called Chhams, while participants also jazz the aura with

By Air:

There is no direct railhead to Ladakh. Passengers need to board train to
Kalka station (Shimla), proceed to Manali by bus and then following the
route to Leh
By Road:
Both J&K state owned buses and deluxe coaches connects Leh to Manali
and Srinagar.
